Well, this week was the final week at Notre Dame for the Men in Old College. Finals were hectic but we all made it through, including putting on face paint and jumping in the lake.
Now many of us have continued home for the summer, while others are taking on other endeavors. Joe Sheehan and Mike have opted to stay on campus and work during senior week. Braydn and Fr. Kevin will be traveling to Montreal to visit the Oratory of Saint Joesph. Brendan will spend some time in Ghana on a trip with Holy Cross College until he returns to work as a counselor at ND Vision along side JP and Ryan Pietrocarlo.
Many of the men of the men will also be participating in summer service learning progams (SSLP) throughout the summer. Ryan Ayala, Braydn, Brian and Chris are some though I'm not sure that is all.
In early August the men will return to the Candidate and Old College Programs. Josh, Matt, Mike, John Ahearn and Ryan Pietrocarlo will continue on to live at Moreau. Where as the rest of the men will return to Old College under new direction. Fr. Steve LaCroix CSC will act as director of the program from July of this year until he is reassigned. Brother Ed will still be around and Fr. Drew Gawrych CSC will be in residence.
Bob Dunsmuir and myself have decided to not continue formation past this year. Yet we still love and appreciate the Old College program for all it does for its seminarians and surrounding communities. Bob will be attending Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania run by the Congregations Eastern Province. I will be attending the University of Portland in Oregon also run by Holy Cross.
I would leave with this final word: Old College is a wonderful program filled and run by wonderful men, anyone so blessed to know the men I have lived with these past two years have experienced Gods grace in a unique way.
It is essential to our mission that we strive to abide so attentively together that people will observe: "See how they love one another." We will then be a sign in an alienated world: men who have, for love of their Lord, become closest neighbors, trustworthy friends, brothers. - Blessed Basil Moreau CSC
God Bless,
Andrew
