Diaconate Ordination Weekend

This weekend was one of the great celebrations in the Holy Cross community. Paul Ybarra C.S.C. made his final profession of vows in the community on Saturday. It was a blessing for us to witness as he gave to God forever vows of Chastity, Poverty, and Obedience during a solemn Mass held in the Basilica. Then, on Sunday we were privileged to see Paul ordained a deacon by the Most Reverend Bishop John Darcy, Bishop Emeritus of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese.
Both ceremonies were great opportunities to reflect on the wonder of God’s call, the power of the vows, and the great gift of religious life. The happy occasion of the weekend was also marked by feasting and fellowship with our brothers in Holy Cross. Continue to pray for Paul as he completes his diaconate year at St. Ignatius Martyr parish in Austin, Texas and, God willing, is ordained a priest this April at Notre Dame.

Peace,

Benjamin
