Looking Back…Again

It’s the middle of December again, which means that life for students is hectic with writing term papers and preparing for final exams. Stress levels are high, and nightly hours of sleep are low. However, amidst all of the chaos that consumes campus this time of year, a wonderful opportunity presents itself to reflect on the semester that has just gone by.

This is the fifth time I have had a chance to look back on a semester of seminary life in Old College, and the most surprising thing about it for me is that it will be my last. Next semester I will be studying abroad in Rome, and when I return, it will be as a Candidate at Moreau seminary (the next step in the Formation process). Looking back on my time at Old College, I remember all of the fun I have shared with my brothers in Old College, but at the same time I am eager to move forward as I feel God calling me into the major seminary.

This semester, like every other, has been a wonderful gift for all of us. We have continued to grow closer to Christ through our communal prayer, we have grown closer to each other through recreation and the sharing of our Faith, and we have come to better understand how God is calling us to live out that Faith.

As the year winds to a close it’s great to take the time to look back on the blessings that we have experienced this year. My time in Old College has been an enormous blessing that has filled my life with innumerable graces. As you reflect on your past year, I hope that you will be able to see that your life, like mine, has been filled with God’s Blessing. Happy Advent!
