St. Patrick's Day Celebration

Yesterday the Church celebrated Ireland's most popular figure, St. Patrick. As a Nicaraguan I was shocked to hear that St. Patrick was not even Irish, but British! After being assured that this was still an authentic commemoration in the Holy Roman Catholic Church I decided to make my way to South Dining Hall with my fellow Old Collegians. Walking through South Quad on the campus of Notre Dame, I was amazed at the sea of green clothing that flooded the Quad as students rushed into the dining hall, where an authentic Irish meal awaited them. Irish music filled the great hall of South, as the laughter of the students who had been celebrating this great feast echoed throughout the hall. It was a great experience to see students from all walks of life coming together as one, we were all Irish, even the Nicaraguans. Celebrating St. Patrick's Day, the men of Old College were able to take time out of their busy schedules to appreciate all of the gifts that God has given us. Now we at Old College are getting back to our regular schedule, and we eagerly await the day when we can once again put down our differences. It just so happens that the next great saint to be celebrated is James the Greater on July 25th! I cannot wait to see the campus of Notre Dame filled with students wearing blue and white apparel singing Salve a ti! Nicaragua!
