Brotherhood

Things at Old College are beginning to settle down into a routine. We all understood that we had three busy weeks right out of the gates, with the retreat at Deer Porte, the Diaconate Ordinations, and last weekend’s opening football game. Now that we have a few weeks of classes under our belts, things are beginning to settle down.
Last weekend’s game against Purdue was the first time I had the pleasure of watching a game in Moreau’s section with my fellow seminarians. I’ve been to more than a few games in my life, having grown up in South Bend, but I can’t recall a time where I’ve had more fun in he stands. There could be many explanations for this: maybe it was the fact that the football team looked decent, or maybe the stadium food really was better than usual. But in all likelihood, I think the reason the game last week seemed to be better than usual had to do with the fact that I saw it with my brothers. It showed me yet another enjoyable event that we could share as a community. Therefore, the game held not only a lesson in how good the Irish defense will be this year, it also held a lesson in community. We are brothers through EVERYTHING, even Notre Dame Football.
