Come and See

Last week was packed for the men of Old College. As a house, we participated in Corby Night and we also hosted a Come and See weekend. Corby Night was a vocation discernment night for men on the campuses of Holy Cross and Notre Dame who are discerning with the Congregation, and the Come and See weekend was a discernment weekend for high school seniors who are also discerning with the Congregation of Holy Cross.

As a freshman in Old College, my experience last week was extremely surreal. I feel like it was just yesterday that I was visiting Old College for my Come and See! I could not believe that I was a seminarian talking to men about discerning the priesthood. Even though I was not entirely sure how to talk about discernment with other men (considering I am still actively discerning), it was an extremely joyful experience getting to know guys who are so open to God’s plan in their lives. I absolutely love meeting men open to the priesthood because their openness gives me hope for the future of our Church.

While I do not know the affect that I had on the men I conversed with, I do know that God will lead each of them to their vocation. This past week was a great experience for everyone involved!

Ave crux spes unica,

Michael Marshall
