London Update

Hi kids! This is Ben from London, England. Well, I’m not actually from London England…but you get the idea. As one of the Old Collegians studying overseas this semester, I must say things have been going great here in London. Allen Hall is the name of the seminary where we are living here. The seminary has many seminarians from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster, but there are also seminarians from other dioceses and religious communities. In a unique way, that puts the three of us who are over here in the position of being ambassadors of Holy Cross to London. It’s a chance for us to better understand what Holy Cross is about, as we meet seminarians who are discerning different ways to live out their priesthood. But it’s also a chance to see what brings us all together as Catholic Seminarians.
I’ve gotten a chance while here to explore the City of London some. I’ve already been to several Masses at Westminster Cathedral (that’s the Catholic one!), including an bishop’s ordination we all went to. I’ve also seen the parliament building, and scouted out the location of the two main Anglican Cathedrals, plus numerous musical theatres. But my personal big accomplishment has been to find all the houses of G.K. Chesterton, the well-known Catholic author, that are in London.
Cheers,
Ben
