The Easter Season

Dear friends in Christ,
The beginning of Easter week has been a very relaxing one for us. We did not have class on Easter Monday, so we were able to sleep in, enjoy the leftovers from our delicious Easter Sunday brunch, greet the guys returning from back home, and just enjoy each others company by sitting outside in the beautiful weather. Like many other people, we spent part of the evening watching the NCAA championship game with several guys rooting for each team. To our surprise, the winner of the house bracket contest was none other than Brother Ed, who managed to pull it out despite having Wisconsin as the national champs!
On Easter Tuesday, the house had two teams compete in the Bookstore Basketball tournament, which spans several weeks and is the largest outdoor basketball tournament in the world (close to 700 teams). The "B" team ("The Five Glorious Mysteries") had an extremely slow start against an athletic team; the defense improved vastly in the second half, but it was not enough to win the game. However, the house's "A" team ("The Papal Bulls") had better luck; playing against a very evenly matched team, they led a balanced offense and terrific defense to secure a close win in an extremely tight game. With the victory, they are looking to play well again next week.

During this week, it is important to remember that Easter is such an important feast, it takes 8 days to celebrate it--so every time you go to Mass this week, "keep in mind that Jesus Christ has died for us and is risen from the dead!"

In Holy Cross,

Mike Palmer
